Over the last twenty years, ZOO has welcomed hundreds of companies from all over the UK and abroad presenting unapparelled contemporary performance.
Our aim is and has always been to achieve a balance of the most exciting new talent and established companies representing a multitude of genres and styles.
In our Main House at ZOO Southside we programme outstanding large-scale performance. Recent companies here have included Ontroerend Goed, Scottish Dance Theatre, 2Faced Dance, Un Poyo Rojo, Compagnie Nyash and VerTeDance. This space like no other at the Fringe – its large stage can comfortably host large-scale performances that might otherwise be unable to find the right home at the Fringe. Elsewhere our smaller studio spaces across our venues provide a powerhouse for emerging work on the Fringe.
When we programme, we're looking to showcase the very best contemporary performance work - it's as simple as that. We want to work with and support outstanding companies to present work of the highest quality. We're known for bringing fresh, innovative new writing and stunning dance and physical theatre, but we're also home to the unexpected, and there really are no genre or topic requirements to make it into our programme - it's all about great work.
Applications from companies are accepted from November onwards, and you can apply to be a part of our season here. Do feel free however to contact a member of our programming team on +44 (0) 131 356 0912 or programming@zoovenues.co.uk before applying for a chat about what you are planning and to answer any questions you may have.
