What ZOO’s Press and Marketing department provides

Advice and support via press@zoovenues.co.uk during the build-up, and an office open 9:30am-10pm during the Festival period.

Prior to the start of the Festival, email is our preferred method of contact, however we will try to arrange an introductory meeting with each company via Zoom. If this is not possible, we’ll arrange for a meeting in the opening days of the Festival to meet you in person.

We promote each of the shows in our programme across our social media channels in the run-up to the Fringe. We also monitor posts which you tag @zoovenues in, and share a selection of your engaging content with our followers. Please note that as we have a programme of over 50 shows, we cannot share absolutely every post made by every company without overloading our platforms in a counter-productive manner.

We design and produce our venue programme featuring all ZOO shows, which is distributed around the city. We aim to make more environmentally aware choices, and are taking steps towards a more sustainable Fringe. As part of this commitment, this year we plan to print a much smaller copy of the programme, with a QR code directing to the full programme accessible online.

We also produce our in-house ZOO Poster Boards (see images below) which we put outside of our venues. For these poster boards, we require 40cm x 40cm 300dpi CMYK image of your show - this should be a hi-res version of the brochure image. If you haven’t uploaded your ZOO Poster Board image onto Eventotron yet, please email it to press@zoovenues.co.uk

We co-ordinate our shows' involvement in promotions like the Scotsman newspaper's ticket deals and competitions page, plus other offers including those exclusively available through EdFest.com which ZOO is a part of along with Assembly, Underbelly, Pleasance, Gilded Balloon, DanceBase, Just the Tonic and Summerhall.

We maintain the venues' display areas and our website to ensure that all shows are publicised prominently and equally, and that excellent reviews are highlighted.

We create a venue press pack featuring all our shows, and deliver it to the major publications in May, as well as stocking all your press releases, images. We then produce a promoters' pack that is distributed to a large mailing list of promoters, tour bookers and leading theatres.

We co-ordinate journalists' requests for information on our shows and encourage media outlets to use ZOO companies in features and previews.

We monitor the papers, magazines and websites for reviews during the Festival, and alert our companies when they are published. Good reviews are displayed prominently in our venues, and useable 'pull- quotes' are added to your sections of the venue display areas, as well as being broadcast via ZOO’s social media feeds. We also collate all your reviews into a press coverage file that you receive at the end of the Festival.

We organise a programme of free in-house events at our venues to provide extra promotional opportunities for all ZOO shows - and a chance to relax and enjoy cheap drinks in the company of your fellow ZOO performers.

Please note: As we share our time and attention between the 60 shows across our venues as well as the promotion of ZOO Venues as a company, we can only assist and advise you rather than taking sole charge of individual shows' publicity campaigns.
